Company Search…

Salam everyone

I apologize for the lack of posts the last two days, as I was very busy. My maid was diagnosed with breast cancer and she had to be admitted to the hospital. Hopefully everything will turn out fine insya allah.

Today’s post is how to do a company search. Nowadays there are so many companies and enterprises trying to scam you of your hard earned money. One step that can be taken to verify the truthfulness of a company is by doing a company search.

A company search will yield results such as the registered address of the company,  its owners, the nature of business and sometimes its financial statement. A close scrutiny of these documents may reveal inconsistencies and perhaps even fraud.

Click on this link and it will bring you to the Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia or Companies Commission of Malaysia’s website. Click on Company Search for companies i.e. sdn bhd/private limited or bhd/limited companies OR click on Business Search for soleproprietorships and partnerships. You can search by inputting the name of the company/business or the registration number. A positive result means that that company/business is registered with SSM. A negative results means that company/business is not registered and does not exist!

You can go ahead and purchase the info you need by paying RM15 for each company/business. Payment can be made by opening a prepaid account with SSM or by credit card. Credit cards must be verified before purchasing.

After confirmation of payment, SSM will generate a PDF file for you and you can download and print and read it at your leisure. This will at least make you aware of the background information of the company/business.

But thats not the only step to avoid scammers. Other checks should be carried out but I will cover that topic on another day. Thats all for now.

Salam…
